After New Burlesque in 2003, the famous series exhibited several times abroad, and a book published, Katharina Bosse presents , in gallery anne barrault, "Mermaids" and "Waterparks" , a new set of original photographs taken in the United States from 1999 to 2004.
Mermaids 1999-2004

The Mermaid Parade is an annual event in Coney Island. During the last weekend in June, mermaids and neptunes gather for a colorful and arty event that concludes with a bath in the Atlantic Ocean. Coney Island is then declared officially open for the summer swimming season. The individual costumes are judged by a jury, which is easily bribed with (preferably alcoholic) gifts. The event is akin to a Mardi Gras/Carnival with lots of painted and decorated naked skin. This merry-making happening takes on a true poetical reality with this joyful, ingenuous, spontaneous, full of life crowd.

and the dream comes true

Waterparks 2003-2004

The architecture of waterparks is dominated by risky slides, rivers and artificial waves, combined with everything one can posssibly imagine related to water : sea creatures, pirates, sandcastles, and so on. At dusk, after the people have left , the architecture stands by itself and , in the dark, takes on fantastic and dreamlike forms, losing its friendly aspect.
